Solar and Battery Installation Across Middle Tennessee

✦ ✦ ✦

The Solar Roofers installs rooftop solar, ground-mounted arrays and home battery backup for homeowners across Middle Tennessee, from Clarksville and Springfield down to Franklin, Murfreesboro and Columbia, and east to Cookeville. We are a family-owned Nashville roofing and solar company working here since 2003, so your roof gets checked before a single panel goes up and one crew stands behind both. Most home systems run 8 to 14 kW and cost $22,800 to $49,000 installed before incentives. Pick your town on the map below, or call (615) 933-8120 for a free assessment.

Roof and Structure Review

We check the decking, the flashing and how many years your roof has left. A 25-year array does not belong on a roof that is nearly worn out, so if the roof is due, we handle it first.

2

Week 1

System Design

We read 12 months of your power bills, model shade from trees and neighbors, and size the array to what you actually use. TVA territory has no 1-for-1 net metering, so we design for self-consumption, not export.

3

Weeks 1 to 6

Permits and Interconnection

We pull the city or county permit and file the interconnection paperwork with NES, Middle Tennessee Electric or your local TVA power company. You do not chase any of it.

Installation

Rooftop solar takes 1 to 3 days on site. Add batteries and panel work and it is 2 to 4 days. On standing seam metal, panels clamp to the seams with no roof penetrations.

Monitoring

We set up production monitoring on your phone and walk you through a sunny day, a cloudy day and an outage. If output drops, our maintenance team is a local call away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Middle Tennessee Home Solar Questions

✦ ✦ ✦

How much does home solar cost in Middle Tennessee?

Most homes land between $22,800 and $49,000 installed for an 8 to 14 kW system, about $2.85 to $3.50 per watt before incentives. A system that size makes roughly 11,000 to 19,000 kWh a year. The 30% federal tax credit for homeowner-owned systems ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025, so plan around the installed price and confirm any tax questions with a tax professional.

Will NES or MTE buy back my extra solar power?

Not 1-for-1. Tennessee is TVA territory with no traditional net metering, and TVA retired its old Green Power Providers buyback. NES runs NESolar Savings, which buys surplus from systems under 250 kW that average at least 50 kWh of surplus a month, on NES terms. Middle Tennessee Electric, which serves Rutherford, Williamson, Wilson and Cannon counties, sets its own interconnection terms, and we confirm them during design. Either way, we size your system to cover the power you use, not to sell it back.

Will a battery keep my power on during an outage?

Yes, for the circuits it backs up. Solar panels alone shut off when the grid goes down. One Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh, about $15,400 installed) typically runs the fridge, freezer, lights, Wi-Fi and a gas furnace blower for roughly 12 to 24 hours, longer when solar recharges it. That matters here: during Winter Storm Fern in January 2026, NES outages peaked at about 230,000 customers, and it took about 13 days to restore nearly everyone.

Which Middle Tennessee towns do you serve?

We install solar and batteries in Nashville, Antioch, Brentwood, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, Hendersonville, Gallatin, Portland, Springfield, Clarksville, Kingston Springs, Dickson, Centerville, Cumberland City, Columbia, Shelbyville, Manchester, McMinnville, Sparta and Cookeville, plus the farms and small towns in between. Every job is run from our office at 935 E Trinity Ln #3 in Nashville.
