The Solar Roofers designs and installs commercial solar and battery storage for businesses, farms, churches and warehouses in Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. Every project is planned and managed from our Nashville office at 935 E Trinity Ln #3 by the solar side of The Metal Roofers, a family-owned roofing contractor working in Middle Tennessee since 2003. Commercial systems run 50 to 700+ kW and typically cost $2.20 to $3.00 per watt installed. We check the roof and the structure before we design a thing.

Commercial Solar
✦ ✦ ✦
Same roofing-first process in every state we serve, planned and managed from our Nashville office. You deal with one team from the first roof check to the day the system turns on.
1
Site visit
We check the roof surface, the deck, the framing and how many years the roof has left, and we look at open ground for a ground mount when the roof is not the right home for panels.
2
Proposal
We size the array to 12 months of your usage and your utility's interconnection and buyback rules, then hand you a line-item proposal that separates solar, battery storage, roof work and electrical upgrades.
3
Paperwork
We pull the local permits and file the interconnection application with your utility, and we track it until you have permission to operate.
4
Install
Our crew installs the racking, panels, inverters and any storage. When the roof needs work, The Metal Roofers does it first, so you get one crew and one warranty for the roof and the solar.
5
Ongoing
We set up production monitoring and walk your team through it. If output drops or an inverter faults, our maintenance team handles the call.
Frequently Asked Questions
✦ ✦ ✦
Most commercial systems we build run $2.20 to $3.00 per watt installed, for arrays from 50 to 700+ kW. Larger, simpler arrays tend to land toward the low end of that range, while small systems, complex roofs and long wire runs push toward the top. It is a planning range before incentives, not a quote.
Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed July 4, 2025, commercial solar projects that began construction after July 4, 2026 must be placed in service by December 31, 2027 to claim the 48E credit. Battery storage is not held to that solar deadline. Projects that started construction earlier may fall under different rules, so confirm your project with a tax professional before you sign.
Sometimes, and we will tell you straight. A solar array lasts 25 years or more, so it should not go on a roof with only a few years left, because pulling it off for a re-roof later costs real money. Standing seam metal is ideal since panels clamp to the seams with no roof penetrations. If the roof is due, The Metal Roofers can replace it first as one project.
The paperwork usually takes longer than the build. Permits and utility interconnection typically run 2 to 6 weeks on a straightforward job, and larger systems can need a longer utility review. Install time scales with system size, and your written proposal includes the schedule. If you are aiming for the December 31, 2027 placed-in-service date, start early.
