Product Details

Racking is the rail and attachment system that holds a solar array in place for 25 years or more. Infinity Rack is one of the racking systems we use. The panels get the attention, but the racking and the roof attachments decide whether a roof stays dry.

How we attach to Middle Tennessee roofs

  • Standing seam metal: S-5! style clamps grab the seams, so the roof never gets a hole. This is the best roof to put under solar.
  • Shingle roofs: every mount is lagged into the rafters and flashed. A typical array needs about 40 to 80 penetrations, so we check the roof's remaining life first.
  • Ground mounts: on acreage and farms, a ground-mounted array faces due south, stays off the roof and is easy to reach for service.

Good to know

Never put a 25-year array on a roof with only a few years left. Removing and reinstalling an array for a later re-roof typically costs $3,000 – $6,000. If your roof is close, plan it with The Metal Roofers first, and doing roof and solar together typically saves $2,000 – $5,000.
